On Thursday 18 November 2021, 205 new local authorities were officially awarded the Terre saine, communes sans pesticides label at the Mayor & Local Community Fair.

Each year, the Terre saine, communes sans pesticides label recognises local authorities that go further than the application of the Labbé law by deciding to do without synthetic phytopharmaceutical products for the management of their green spaces. Created in 2015 as part of the Ecophyto plan, this label is co-piloted by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and the French Office for Biodiversity.

This year, the award ceremony took place on 18 November 2021 at the Mayor & Local Community Fair, in the presence of Sophie-Dorothée Duron, Deputy Director of Water and Biodiversity, and Senator Joël Labbé.

A record number of 205 local authorities were awarded the label, bringing the total number of winning local authorities to 728.

From next year, the Labbé law will be extended. The ban on the use of phytopharmaceutical products will henceforth apply to all green spaces, which will naturally force the Terre saine, communes sans pesticides label to evolve.
