Feedback sheets from Nature-based Solutions projects for climate change adaptation

décembre 2024

Here you can browse through 18 feedback sheets on Nature-based Solutions (NbS) projects for climate change adaptation. They have been compiled by CDC-Biodiversité, the IUCN French Committee and the OFB as part of the Life ARTISAN project. They constitute a reference designed to inform and inspire public and private decision-makers, developers, managers of natural or agricultural areas, and local stakeholders.

These fact sheets document exemplary initiatives deployed in France (Overseas and Hexagon), and cover a diversity of environments (urban areas, forest systems, agroecosystems, watercourses, wetlands). The projects address a wide range of climatic hazards, such as rising sea levels, drought, urban heat islands, soil erosion, flooding and forest dieback.

Each concise fact sheet presents a rigorous analysis including socio-ecological contexts, adaptation and biodiversity restoration objectives, as well as strategic sources of funding and key partners for SfN projects. The actions implemented are described in detail, including monitoring indicators, designed in line with the IUCN NbS Global Standard. The benefits observed and the monitoring indicators also reinforce the reproducibility of the initiatives presented.

These projects illustrate the effectiveness of NbS in responding to a wide range of climatic and ecological challenges. They shed light on their contribution to carbon sequestration, the restoration of ecosystem processes and the enhancement of territorial resilience. Finally, the fact sheets highlight participatory and integrated approaches, while identifying strategic and operational levers for maximizing the socio-environmental impacts of NbS for adaptation to climate change.
